I'm tired in the AM again. I'm going to not have caffeine after 7 tonight, and see if I can break this cycle.

On another note, the new yarn for my swap partner came in, so I cast on last night and am happy with the results so far. The yarn is fun to work with and the color, while not me, is beautiful. It's going to be a pretty knit.

Plan for today: get a manual to a better state of happy. Put away summer clothing. Call Disney about the Pirates and Friends Cruise.

Oh, did I mention? We've booked again. First full week in January, some of which might be still this year for me (work-wise, the fiscal and vacation year ends near the end of Dec, but has been known to wrap). So I'm glad I've got a few vacation days I've been hoarding--gotta see if I can use them now, or save them for then. We'll be at Disney longer this time, so should be able to take our time (planning two days for Epcot). And we're planning to hit the one park we've not been to yet--Hollywood Studios. I hear there's a Pixar parade. I'd been wondering where those characters were hiding!

The Boy has his halloween costume--Buzz Lightyear, complete with blinky wings. It fits perfectly, and is acceptable for the school parade. He looks so very cute.

Over the weekend I made French Onion Soup--which will happen again. That was a lovely dinner. There was also the start of the switching over the wardrobe--which includes a heavy culling. I'm not using near all of my closet for clothing I actually wear--so I'll keep pulling things out of it for either storage (for a lighter tchwrtr) or for Purple Heart.

Also still getting the kitchen in shape. Haven't unearthed the pots yet--we've got the pans, so cooking has been happening, but the moment we want spaghetti, I'm out of luck. I know where they are, I think, so it's a matter of unburying them from the other things we haven't needed yet. Also culling from that pile o'still left for Purple Heart.

Guests! We have guests coming at the end of the month! Gotta get the downstairs to an even more habitable state for them. Technically it's there now, but I know it can be better. And to plan that dinner.

Speaking of guests, yesterday morning the husband discovered a parrot in the closet, who looked suspiciously like one we left in a bathroom in another house. We welcomed it back with peals of laughter.

there's got to be a story here.

in other news, what sorts of costumes are NOT acceptable for the school parade? besides, i thought dressing up for school anymore was VERBOTEN. do you have to go to school and dress him or how does it work nowadays?

(it's about time to start loading my halloween icons, methinks.)

This parrot is motion-activated, and sings "pirate" songs at you. It was a gift from my mom (hi mom!) for the Captain Boy Ball-Bouncing Pirate Luaus. It was borrowed by faireraven for the MS Walk, and when she attempted to give it back, we left it in faireraven's guest tub instead. It was about a month (I think) before it was discovered. She has now returned it to us. That's the story!

As for the dressing up, the Boy is allowed to dress for the Fall Festival at the Church-run school--there's a parade for the kids to walk in and show off their outfits. He can't be a ghost, witch, or devil. Or anything too scary or gross. And all toy weapons are to stay at home. Fun, huh?

The Buzz Lightyear outfit will be cumbersome to be in for the duration of school (there's a lot of foam inside, and blinky wings!), so he'll be dressed underneath it, so the outfit can come off post-parade.

LOL at the Pirate Parrot. that's worse than TWD and i with the "koosh" ball. we leave it random places for each other at random times, but it doesn't spring into action and sing piratey songs at us!

so it's a "Fall Festival" and certainly NOT Halloween. i'm sure glad everyone's clear on that. ;) i can see not letting anyone be anything scary or gross though. they are just little kids. they wouldn't want to come NEAR many of TWD's costumey freakouts. there have been a couple years >I< had problems looking at him.

True. It's the "no fake weapons" that are causing some issues for some little boys I know--not mine, but there will be double outfits for the Boy's BFF.

The husband offered to send the Boy in all black, with "333" on his chest. Only half evil. I told him there was no way that would be funny.

Personally, I vote for "668: Neighbor of the Beast".

And I just found a site you might like, if you're not already familiar with it: yarnbombing.com

yeah, i would say it depends on the weapon. but allowing wooden swords gives way to howcome i can't bring my plastic replica uzi and fully functional ammo belt!?!? so ban one, ban them all.

personally, i think 333 is VERY funny. ;) but probably not for a church school and kids wouldn't/shouldn't get the joke anyway.

That's my point about the church school. I don't want the Boy kicked out for a joke that's better on an adult costume.

I'm half-considering just sending him in the usual faire garb to school--it's piratey, and he could wear it the whole day--it's designed for that. I'll give him the option, at least.

*chuckle* I couldn't even see what I was doing, either, I just had the vague shadows of moon-lamp light to work by... :)

Tolja I wouldn't stick it in the tub. ;)

The soup was very good. Especially with broiled cheese encasing it in the bowl.
