Nowhere near as organized as one might hope, but here's what I've got going NOW. Because I need to see it all, and prioritize. All things that have been finished will not be discussed.

The Boy's quilt needs sandwiching and quilting.
The latest "blocks of the month" in the quilting shop's class need to be finished (one week! there's a deadline!)
The punis needs to be spun and the singles plied (5 to go!)
The hand dyed needs to be spun and plied (the other half is finished, and I see long draw in my future!)
I have a sampling of a new yarn for a company to complete (also in a week! another deadline!)
And there's a cowl I started as an "easy project" when I need the fingers moving so the mind stays focused at work.

As I finish the above, I'd like to...
Make some spring/summer stitchmarkers. The Etsy shop needs an infusion.
Knit on my lime green top. It's of a weight to be worn NOW, but I'd like to get some more inches on it before I tuck it away again for cooler weather knitting.
I'm four knit squares from having all the pieces I need for my OLDEST knitting project, a rather large blanket. I'd love to get that completed this year too.
There's a quilt I'd like to finish for ME.
There's a partially complete quilt sampler from last year I'd like to call DONE.
There's a bajillion other things I want to do.

So it looks like today is for a sampling and some blocks of the month. If I get the sampling started (I'm making colorwork mitts) and the blocks done except for the applique, I'll pin that other quilt so I can get some quilting done. I'm just going to stitch along the seams on that one, so once I start, it shouldn't take long to finish.

Quilting (Nada. Sorry, quilting!)

  • Mystery Quilt: pieced the first of two borders! Easier than expected. I'll get the next one on soon enough.

  • The Boy's Quilt: (ignored)  I need to clean my floor, move furniture, and get this sandwiched.

  • My Quilt: (ignored) With the need to think of my son's quilt's finishing, I think this one will sit a little longer.

  • The jelly roll quilt: (ignored until the Mystery Quilt is done) Still waiting for something to be completed.

Knitting

  • The (new) socks: Sock2 Body is moving along, slowly, but moving along.

  • Blanket of Doom: this is my oldest WIP. I've been joining the squares, and ran out of enough to attach the next column of squares, so I'm back to knitting squares (12 to go!). It's gotten cold, and so I've picked this back up. And am going to finish it this winter.

  • Surprise scarf: Surprise! I picked up two skeins of yarn at a craft fair a few weeks ago, and have knit up a man's scarf out of it. So it never officially hit the stash. :-) So it's done.

  • Cancer Cap gone Child: Well it started as a cancer cap for a friend, but I got the gauge wrong. So it's going into the giveaway pile as a girl's hat instead, and will cast on another cap for my friend soon. But this cap? Done.

  • Packers Socks: another WIP, picked up this week.

  • Gnomes on my hands: stranded knitting mittens that I've done too small for my own hands. When I realized that, I put them aside. But I want to finish them as stranded knitting practice, and so that I can have those needles back.  Besides, the gnomes are rather captivating. *grin*

  • Birthday tank top: Still waiting for the armholes.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: Nope.

Cross Stitch (move along, move along...)

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning (ignored--I know! How odd.)

  • Blue-green gradient: Based on the compression of the green portion, I've got more work ahead of me than I thought. Still chugging on it, though.

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted eventually...I want a true 3-ply, I think. Must plan on how to arrange the singles while I spin it all up.

  • "Fluff and Stuff" bag: ignored. But we're getting closer. I'm in a real "get the WIPs done" frame of mind.

How's that saying go? Two steps forward...yeah. Had some of that this week.

  • The (new) socks: Sock2 Body is moving along, slowly, but moving along.

  • MSFB Spats: tinking on the first one done, so now I can fix the edge. Finally.

  • Birthday tank top: Still waiting for the armholes.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: Nope.

  • Orange top: I finished the knitting! WOO HOO! Kitchenered the shoulders, tried it on and...crap. Two inches too short. So it's in time out until I feel ready to do a little franken-surgery to add two inches to the bit between the bust and hem, because I can't just tack it on at the bottom. At least I have yarn for it. :-)

Things! I did things!

  • MSFB Spats: still making the first one right again, but this dark weather is making the tinking tough.

  • Birthday tank top: Still waiting for the armholes.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: Nope.

  • Orange top: Picked it up, finished the majority of the second panel of cool bits, and am starting the shoulders.

The weeks finally feel like we're getting back to something like what passes for normal here. So here we go!

Quilting (still nothing! Will work on one of these things over the weekend though. At least one.)

  • Mystery Quilt: (ignored) pieced the center of the top. Starting to think about the fiddly piecing that has to happen, though, and might wrap this one up soon. Still thinking about this, and want to get it moving again before the end of the month.

Knitting

  • The (new) socks: Finished the toe! And cast on the second sock. Past the cuff, and on to the body. This is where I expect it to stay for quite a while.

  • Boy socks: DONE. He decided that the difference in width wasn't a big deal, so I went ahead and just...finished them.

  • A UFO! I've picked up the spats I was making for LAST year's MSFB, and have finished the second one over the week. Well, all but two edging spots. I've also realized that I messed up the first spats' finishing, so I'm pulling it out and making it right. This project has re-captivated me, and there's a good chance I'll finish it in the next week.

  • Birthday tank top: Still waiting for the armholes.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: Nope.

  • Orange top: I thought about it, but nothing happened with it.

Cross Stitch (move along, move along...)

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning

  • Blue-green gradient: Still so close to a finished single...will be working on it at Market this week.

  • PIIINK!: Spun. Plied. Waiting to be washed and whacked.

I know! More than a month has gone by. Let's see where things are, shall we?

Quilting (still nothing! this time I blame the battle against the fleas. we won, and I have been making progress on finding the table again [and have a free and clear weekend], so expect something next week.)

  • Mystery Quilt: (ignored) pieced the center of the top. Starting to think about the fiddly piecing that has to happen, though, and might wrap this one up soon. Still thinking about this, and want to get it moving again before the end of the month.

Knitting

  • Birthday tank top: Surprise! Neckline picked up and knit! And it looks like there will be enough yarn to knit the armholes too. Which means more picking up. Oh, joy.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: picked up this week, made it through a whole repeat. Almost halfway up the "tube" before teh interesting things happen in the pattern again.

  • Orange top: One side of "the bit with holes in" is done. I'm somewhere on the second side, then there's the shoulder bindoff, and that's that. I think.

  • The (new) socks: Most of the way down the foot of sock 1. Really need to try it on and see if we're ready for the toe, and get this moving again.

  • Dishcloths: Done.  9/9 complete. Ha HA! Take that, Christmas knitting!

  • Boy socks: Something new! This is where most of my energy has gone. I was hoping to start this school year off with new socks for the Boy. Pulled out the old pattern, some fun yarn I got just for him, motored along, and had him try it on after I'd knit through the heel, so I could get the length right. He couldn't get it on over his heel. So I ripped it back out, added eight stitches, got that far again, and had him try it on. Again. This time, it fit--perfectly. I'm decreasing the toe (a second time--the first was short, even WITH measuring), and will rinse and repeat to make a pair. Now that I have the updated numbers, the second sock will not take anywhere NEAR as long. At least, it better not. Or he might grow again.

  • Sekrit Knitting: Not super-secret, but nothing I can talk about. Not much to say about it either. But it did eat about a week of my knit-time.

Cross Stitch (move along, move along...)

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning

  • Selfish sock yarn: Single has been spun. Hoping to ply it tomorrow and wash/whack it over Fri/Sat, to have it ready for the county fair entry dropoff on Monday.

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted eventually...I want a true 3-ply, I think. Must plan on how to arrange the singles while I spin it all up.

  • Blue-green gradient: last weekend at the Market, I lost the end in the bobbin somewhere, and couldn't find it. So the bobbin went into time out until last night, when I finally teased out the end and got spinning again. I'm just about done with the blue, and moving solidly into the greens.

  • Something New: Because I lost the end with hours left before the Market ended, I picked one of the bedraggled hand-dyed fibers I hang up every time, and started spinning that. It was only two ounces, so it went quickly. I say went because it's now plied and sitting on my niddy noddy overnight before I wash and whack it tomorrow. It's the last of my Seussian colorway, and I know someone will give this quirky yarn a good home.

  • The Jacob fleece has been on my mind again. But I think I should hold off on spinning that until I've gotten some more of the in-process spinning complete. There's two other partial-projects on the bobbins downstairs that have been languishing for a while, and I'd like that space on my table back as well. Maybe next up will be the rest of the "Fluff and Stuff" bag with which I shall ply the silver laceweight yarn. We shall see.

I went to knit camp. Did more spinning than knitting. More below.

Quilting (nothing happened in this section. just skip it. Again.)

  • Mystery Quilt: (ignored) pieced the center of the top. Starting to think about the fiddly piecing that has to happen, though, and might wrap this one up soon. Still thinking about this, and want to get it moving again before the end of the month.

  • The Boy's Quilt: (ignored)  I need to clean my floor, move furniture, and get this sandwiched.

  • My Quilt: (ignored) With the no need to think of my son's quilt's piecing, I think this one will sit a little longer.

  • The jelly roll quilt: (ignored until the Mystery Quilt is done) I've showed the fabric to everyone who would hold still long enough to look. I'm pondering background colors now.

Knitting

  • Birthday tank top: (ignored) I still hate picking up stitches. And there's still a lot of them on this neckline. And so far, I'm not doing it, either. *sigh*

  • LIME GREEN TANK: (ignored) did not meet the deadline of SSK in July. Didn't take it with me, either.

  • Orange top: Got some love when I got back, because I wanted something with a little more "oomph" than plain stockinette. Almost through the first half of the fun "make holes in perfectly good knitting" portion of this knit.

  • New socks! I know. I needed plain stockinette for knit camp (for the plane, then hanging out with people, and so on), so I started a sock, top down. Planned an afterthought heel. Before I got home, I had the first sock past the afterthought heel scrap yarn and am now about halfway down the foot of sock 1. Woo hoo!

  • The Hat With No Rav: Done. I messed up the top a bit, but it's a fun funky thing. Still want to poke the creator to put the pattern up there in Ravelry.

  • Dishcloths: Finished mine, weighed it, wound out yarn for eight in a holiday yarn where the yarn balls are the same weight, and have already knit half of one of those. I'll start a pile, and weave in ends all at the same time.  1.5/9

  • Colorwork Hat: Surprise! And Done. This was a class project from knit camp. I learned how to make a latvian braid, and the colorwork is almost good tension-like. With a little blocking, this will be a Christmas gift for someone.

Cross Stitch (move along, move along...)

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning

  • Selfish sock yarn: I was away. I did take the wheel with me, but not this fiber. I had classes to take.

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted eventually...

  • New Market Spinning: I chose a blue-green gradient, from Stitches n' Rows. It excites me to spin--it's going to be awesome when done.

  • Class spinning: loads of crap, because I was learning cool new things, like spinning thick, and then thick and thin, then in the other class I learned how to do supported long-draw. And practice is always messy. I'm all kinds of stoked to do more if this, because it's faster than short forward draw (what I do now), and will still give me an awesome yarn.

  • Mini-skein from a purple puni: I made a puni! And then we were twelve and giggled over it. THEN it started going limp and falling apart, which reinforced our twelve-ness. So I went ahead and spun it up, then Andean plied, and I love the result. But it's a wee skein, so I'll have to figure out something small and lovely to do with it.

This time it was vacation.

  • The jelly roll quilt: (ignored until the Mystery Quilt is done) I've showed the fabric to everyone who would hold still long enough to look. I'm pondering background colors now.

Knitting

  • Birthday tank top: (took a lovely trip, and was ignored) I still hate picking up stitches. And there's still a lot of them on this neckline. But i'm doing it, because it has proven not to do itself.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: (ignored) I will not meet the deadline of SSK in July, but the orange top and birthday tank might.

  • Orange top: Finally to the fun "make holes in perfectly good knitting" portion of this knit. However, that means SSKs and K2togs in cotton. My hands hate me. And there's another half of these to do.

  • The Hat With No Rav: I'm 1.5 inches from the decreasing for the top. The maker hasn't put it on Rav, so this is the only place I have record of making this one.

  • Dishcloth: It's time to start the Holiday Dishcloth Run! Well, I've started with one for me. Expect to see a count go higher and higher as the winter holiday looms.

Cross Stitch (move along, move along...)

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning

  • Selfish sock yarn: I was away. We did not take the wheel with us. I'll get back to it today.

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted eventually...

  • New Market Spinning: I've not yet picked out what my next Market spinning will be, but as I'm at the Market day after tomorrow, and I'm not taking my sock yarn spinning, I'll have to pick something. Maybe it'll be Mambo, from Stitches n' Rows. Their shop is currently empty, or I'd link to it.

Happy Fourth! I missed the wrap-up yesterday for reasons of forgetfulness.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: (ignored) I will not meet the deadline of SSK in July, but the orange top and birthday tank might.

  • Orange top: Split to knit the front and back, and have started on one of them. As they're the same, it doesn't really matter.

  • New project! : I started a hat, thinking I'd work on it in the car. um, I'm about halfway through it now...I needed something that moved faster.

Cross Stitch (move along, move along...)

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning

  • Wisteria Spinning: Done! It's awesome, so very soft. Needs washing and whacking, though.

  • Selfish sock yarn: I've been working on this, and it's moving along well. I keep wanting to finish it, but I have to slow down and let that twist in so the yarn will be strong enough for socks. I hope to have it plied before SSK, and if I do, I'll start the socks while at SSK.

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted eventually...

It's been a busy week, but not all that productive craft-wise. Well, it was productive, but I've become more and more focused on ONE project, and have been holding off the quilt ones until after knit night tonight when I can show off the Boy's top to the group. Much easier to do that when it's not sandwiched and not quilted. *grin* I'd also made soaps for Market, and photoed for Etsy, and those kind of tasks eat into my personal craft time. As does letting down the hem of my son's Renaissance Fair pants. So that happened too.

Knitting

  • Birthday tank top: I'm stuck on "pick up and knit" because I hate picking up stitches. And there's a lot of them on this neckline.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: (ignored) Picked up again, because of events in the last day. Some of the rows are slower than others, and slow this down. I hope to keep picking it up so I can meet the deadline of SSK in July.

  • Orange top: Got my new needles, and have almost finished the second (of five) pattern sections. I figure I'm about a quarter of the way through this top, but it's moving fast fast fast now.

Cross Stitch (move along, move along...)

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning

  • Wisteria Spinning: Finished the first half, and halfway through the second half.

  • Selfish sock yarn: (ignored) no movement. But I found it!

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted weight this month. No, really. I've still got time...

imjustlori: (thin)
Here we go! There's movement, and a tightening up of items. I'm wrapping projects up, and being good and not adding new ones in. Yet.

Quilting (nothing happened in this section. just skip it.)

  • Mystery Quilt: (ignored) pieced the center of the top. Starting to think about the fiddly piecing that has to happen, though, and might wrap this one up soon. Still thinking about this, and want to get it moving again before the end of the month.

  • The jelly roll quilt: (ignored until the Mystery Quilt is done) I've showed the fabric to everyone who would hold still long enough to look. I'm pondering background colors now.

Knitting

  • Birthday tank top: Sides are sewn up. I just need to pick up and knit the neckline and armholes, then I'll have a summer tank top. Woo hoo!

  • LIME GREEN TANK: Picked up again, because of events in the last day. Some of the rows are slower than others, and slow this down. I hope to keep picking it up so I can meet the deadline of SSK in July.

  • Orange top: I was chugging along on the first pattern part of this, and was 3/4 through it, when my needle snapped. As it was the only size 3 circ I seem to own, this is now on hold until I can acquire another one. I'm thinking of running up to the LYS tonight.

  • I did a bunch on the blanket, then put it away again when I was ready to get moving on the tops once more. Also tonight I'm thinking of winding up some socks yarn, and casting those on soon. Or whip up a pair of baby booties. There's a need for a few pair of those coming along.

Cross Stitch (move along, move along...)

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning

  • Market Spinning: Tagged and set out for sale. This is the last entry for this fiber.

  • Wisteria Spinning: Finished the first half, and started on the second.

  • Selfish sock yarn: (ignored) no movement. But I found it!

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted weight this month. No, really. I've still got time...

imjustlori: (thin)
A day late, but there's a good reason for that. :-)

Quilting

Knitting

  • Baktus: Done! Ends woven in! And I love love love it.

  • SURPRISE old project! Back in 2010 for my birthday I bought yarn for a tank top. I have knit on it in the summers since, and Went ahead and pulled it out once again. This time, I've completed the body, pinned the bits together, tried it on, and I love it. So all that needs is the finishing work--I'm sewing up the sides, then completing the neckline and armholes. The reason the update is late is that I wanted to get it cast off before posting.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: (ignored) Not done for trip. New deadline: SSK in July.

  • Orange top: I changed patterns, and cast this one on. I've selected a fingering-weight pattern, but am using a DK weight yarn (slightly thicker), so I'll be fudging a little as I go. However, I love the fabric I'm making, so I'll make this work.

  • Also getting some love this week is the sock yarn blanket. It's an inbetween-project that gets attention when I need a little something, like a palate-cleanser. I'm debating whether or not I'll re-start the lime green socks, or move to this other sock yarn I have...either way, I need to get some socks started. Because all I've got beyond that is summer tops, and they'll get too big to travel, eventually.

Cross Stitch

  • Yellowstone Lodge: (ignored)

Spinning

  • Market Spinning: (ignored) I still need to measure it and tag it for sale.

  • NEW Market Spinning: (ignored) called Wisteria, it's a lovely white with hints of purple. I'm thinking it will be my usual fingering weight when complete, probably in July.

  • Selfish sock yarn: (ignored) no movement. But I found it!

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) Spindle-spun fiber washed and set. It's a lovely...laceweight? Okay then. That bit will not be for sale, and I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted weight this month.

imjustlori: (thin)
Two weeks! I was away on business--the one that pays for these hobbies--and so there was no update last week. Sadly, there was not but so much progress either. But some progress nonetheless!

Quilting

  • Mystery Quilt: (ignored) pieced the center of the top. Starting to think about the fiddly piecing that has to happen, though, and might wrap this one up soon.

  • Surprise Quilt not on the list! The long twin quilt top WAS completed before the end of May. It has turned out better than I ever expected, and I'm now going to try to complete it in time for the County Fair. I doubt it would win, but I want to see it hanging in that building.

Knitting

  • Spring Socks: Done! I left Chicago with four rounds and a bindoff left, but finished it at home the next day. They are now happily in my sock drawer, and I'm thinking about what pair to work on next. I have three pair in various states of unfinished, and I think I'll take care of those first.

  • Baktus: Progress continues. I'm now at the point where the rows are getting shorter faster, and that's making it move even faster. The locking stitchmarker tells me I'm a good foot past the last time I talked about it.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: (ignored) Not done for trip. New deadline: SSK in July.

  • Orange top: (ignored) Still avoiding the maths. The swatch is not to what the pattern wants. Which means maths. I already knew i had maths to do, so this is no real surprise. I also have to get around to measuring ME, so the maths make sense.

Cross Stitch

  • It did go with me, and I used the scissors I brought to cut a few things, but didn't work on it. However, before I left, I did a little bit. Not enough anyone could tell, but I did put in about 20-30 stitches.

Spinning

  • Market Spinning: Plied and set. I still need to measure it and tag it for sale.

  • NEW Market Spinning: called Wisteria, it's a lovely white with hints of purple. I'm thinking it will be my usual fingering weight when complete, probably in July.

  • Selfish sock yarn: (ignored) no movement. Well, mainly because I can't FIND it.

  • 3#Fiber: Spindle-spun fiber washed and set. It's a lovely...laceweight? Okay then. That bit will not be for sale, and I'm going to start the test-spinning to reach a DK or Worsted weight this month. I hope. I should finish the selfish sock yarn first, if I can find it.

There's squares of bees, of the universe, of construction, of pirate maps, and of wee fish. The wee fish are leftover from his tummy-time quilt, which no longer shows the fish--they all washed off years ago. They will eventually wash off of this quilt too.

Ladies and gents, that quilt will fit an extra-long twin, with over a foot overhang on each side as well. I know, because I've draped it on a certain bed in a certain Boy's room. He's declared it perfect as-is, and wants me to lay it on his bed (again) this weekend, so he can nap on it.

Now to see about finishing it. I have all the parts for the quilt sandwich--I just need to find a space large enough to stretch out the backing and tape it down. The top is about two inches too big in each direction to use the living room, without moving furniture.

One way in which I distract myself in times of stress is to craft. This week was stressful. So craft I have.

Quilting

  • Mystery Quilt: pieced the center of the top. I'm still over this piece, and have been ignoring the fiddly piecing that has to happen.

  • Surprise Quilt not on the list! I've picked up the piecing for my son's quilt. If I keep this up, I'll have a long twin quilt top completed before the end of the month. He still loves it (he picked out the fabrics back before Kindergarten) and I'm aiming to have it complete and on his bed by the time school starts in the fall.

  • My Quilt: (ignored) With the no need to think of my son's quilt's piecing, I think this one will sit a little longer.

  • The jelly roll quilt: I've showed the fabric to everyone who would hold still long enough to look. I'm pondering background colors now.

Knitting

  • Spring Socks: Motoring to the cuff!

  • Baktus: Not zooming, but there is progress. I have a locking stitchmarker on the fabric so I can see how far I get since the last time I moved it.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: So very not going to be completed for my trip. However, it has been worked on this week, and I think I'll have the main body halfway done before my trip. So there's that.

  • Orange top: (ignored) The swatch is not to what the pattern wants. Which means maths. I already knew i had maths to do, so this is no real surprise. I also have to get around to measuring ME, so the maths make sense.

Cross Stitch

  • (ignored) No movement. Sigh. But I've been eyeing it more. That's something. I think it might be a travel project, for when I'm back in the room after being in the office all day.

Spinning

  • Market Spinning: Still in not-quite-done singles. My goal was to be plying today, and I may still reach that, as long as the spinning is ALL I do this evening. But the Boy's quilt has a siren song...we'll see what happens.

  • Selfish sock yarn: (ignored) no movement. Well, beyond shifting the spinning wheel from here to there. And then it came off the wheel, and is now sitting there, scolding me.

  • 3#Fiber: (ignored) Still need to wash and whack the spindle-spun fiber, but I'm out of Soak, so until I pop over to the bra shop in town, it sits. (I am planning to get over that way tomorrow, I hope, so it will happen). And that's all there is to that.

This week I have no excuse.

Market week! It was exciting. This time people wanted dryer balls, and I sold half of THAT stock. This is a cool trend. At this point, I've covered the cost of the spot at the market. Yay! Once I have enough, the next purchase for the shop will be table(s) that fold in half, so I can put people in the car at the same time as the shop. :-)

My Etsy shop has also gotten some love, and I have new product (stitchmarkers) in there. I still have some to photograph, and have been itching to play with the cloisonne beads I picked up, so there might be more soon.

So, what am I working on for me? Outside of the projects below, I put a button back on a pair of pants for me (yay!) and repaired the hem of my son's MS Walk tee shirt--it had come completely undone. And now the sewing area is clear, so I expect more in that arena soon.

Quilting

  • Mystery Quilt: Totally ignored it. I'm over this project. However, one of my quilt buddies is having us over Saturday, so I plan on taking it and getting the center of the top banged out, at least.

  • My Quilt: Still no movement! August block 2 will happen after the Mystery quilt front is assembled. I've fallen out of love with that snowman sampler, but dammit, I'm going to finish it and have something DONE.

  • The jelly roll quilt: I've fondled the fabric once or twice this week, but not opened it. Yet.

Knitting

  • Spring Socks: Gusset done. Motoring to the cuff!

  • Baktus: I love it. Oh my goodness, it is awesome. I am still in love. It's also finally halfway done. I'm on the decreasing side, and no longer have to worry about weighing it, so I expect it to zoom along.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: While I still want to finish it before I travel for work again, and while I can still wear it in the spring, since it's getting little to no love, I don't know that it will happen. I'll try again this week.

  • Orange top: The swatch is not to what the pattern wants. Which means maths. I already knew i had maths to do, so this is no real surprise. I also have to get around to measuring ME, so the maths make sense.

Cross Stitch

  • No movement. Sigh. But I've been eyeing it more. That's something.

Spinning

  • Market Spinning: The fiber is moving quickly. I told people I hoped this yarn would be for sale next time I'm there, so I really have to finish it now. And I will.

  • Selfish sock yarn: no movement. Well, beyond shifting the spinning wheel from here to there. And then it came off the wheel, and is now sitting there, scolding me.

  • 3#Fiber: Still need to wash and whack the spindle-spun fiber, but I'm out of Soak, so until I pop over to the bra shop in town, it sits. (I am planning to get over that way tomorrow, I hope, so it will happen). And that's all there is to that.

So I went to the Sheep and Wool festival. With my son. He wanted to watch the sheepdog demo. I wanted to attend the podcaster meetup. They were at the same time, but were within visible distance of each other. I asked if he would be okay hanging out right at this tree until I came to get him, and he said yes. So I stayed where I could see the tree, and he stayed there.

Meanwhile, the various podcasters started wandering in. These are brave souls. It's one thing to talk to a camera (I do it for work as a telecommuter daily), it's an entirely different thing to tell these people you may or may not have ever met *where to find you* on a given day. Without the safety of a table between you and them, like at a book signing.

I guess in a lot of ways, this was my version of a con.

Anyway, the story. I was waiting for Diane of the Knitabulls video podcast. You see, she has a segment on her show where she talks about what she's watching on television. And she watches Dancing with the Stars. Last year I found the *perfect* mirror ball beads, and have made up a bunch of stitchmarker sets from them. I'd set aside a set for her, as a gift, and this was my first chance to get them to her. I had a mission: to get over shyness, introduce myself, and hand her these markers.

I found her by her voice. She recognized my Ravelry name, and gave me a hug. I was thrown off my game. But then this happened:

Me: *hands her the markers* "I have these for you."
She: *looks at markers* *realization dawns* Oh! Mirror balls! I watch Dancing with the Stars!"
Me: (excitedly) "I know!" *...internal facepalm...* "I do too!"

We then discuss the dancing stylings of Mark, her least favorite (and one I think is okay, although I agreed with her about the spats), until someone else whisked her away. I figured I'd had my moment and couldn't monopolize her time.

So since then I've gotten off my duff, and updated my Etsy shop. I've made these things, I should be getting them out there for You People to see, giggle over, and possibly buy. If the sun comes back out this week I'll try to get other markers up there too--I lost my light on Sunday night and couldn't get them all photographed. But there's a nice collection, if I do say so myself.

I know. *giggle*

You know how deadlines are never truly the end of something? Yeah, I'm climbing out from under that now. But I can see the other side, know I'm on it, and this weekend is Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival! I'll be there on Saturday, and the Boy is going with me. I figure he'll keep me from getting too crazy. And my list is short this year. But what have I been doing up until now?

Quilting

  • Mystery Quilt: Final applique block done. Snowball strips done. I'm ready for tomorrow's "here how it all goes together" and the purchase of the backing fabric.

  • My Quilt: No movement. August 2 block will happen after my homework for the Mystery quilt is complete--again. I've fallen out of love with that snowman sampler, but dammit, I'm going to finish it and have something DONE.

Knitting

  • Spring Socks: Second one I'm on the gusset! I hope to clear the heel over the next week.

  • Baktus: This is the project I'd wanted to do for the SSK KAL, and couldn't. I finally ordered the yarn from the dyer of the fiber, and it's a perfect match to the blues in the Koi Pond. I cast it on immediately, and because it's the simplest thing I have on the needles, it's moving the most. And I love it way too much.

  • LIME GREEN TANK: Very not done. Especially because the Baktus yarn came in. But it is still moving...I'd love to get at least one pattern repeat done a day (and thus have the body done by the 17th), but I doubt that will happen. Still, I want to finish it before I travel for work again, and while I can still wear it.

Cross Stitch

  • No movement. Sigh. I did move this project from my craft area to my office, but it's still in the ziploc. Work deadline is past, and I'm in the process of desk clearing.

Spinning

  • NEW SPINNING: The farmer's Market started, and I didn't want to take the fiber I'd spun on all last season, so I grabbed something new. It's soft, it has some sparkle, and it's got some purple. It's also over 7 ounces--and I need product for the market--I sold yarn last weekend! So I'm trying to spin a little every day to get something done.

  • Selfish sock yarn: no movement. Well, beyond shifting the spinning wheel from here to there. And then it came off the wheel, and is now sitting there, scolding me.

  • 3#Fiber: I'm still playing with the singles on the spindle. And I'm learning the limits to what I can put on this spindle--it's a lot heavier than it was when I started, but I still have about a yard of fiber to spin from the bit I tore off to play with. I'd like to cram it all on there, then sort out the plying. It would be great to ply it over the weekend, maybe from an Andean bracelet, if I can make it work. I tend to put so much twist in that the bracelet tangles, but this is some "hearty" fiber, so it might be okay. This is still my plan, but for this weekend instead of last weekend.

This weekend was for doing All The Things. While Saturday was a busy morning, Sunday was packed with the MS Walk and another soccer game. Overall, the crafting quotient was low.

Quilting

  • Mystery Quilt: Finished my homework, except for the yo-yos. But because my snowman is smirking, I think that's okay. He don't need no yo-yos. *grin* We got this week's portion of the project, and it should be the last of it. The good part is there's only a little applique. The bad part is the piecing entails sixty-four 1" squares. That I have to cut. Wheee. So I've already started on the square that has the applique...but hope to cut the squares for the other parts over the weekend. And keep them in a baggie--they're too small to leave lying around.

  • My Quilt: No movement. August 2 block will happen after my homework for the Mystery quilt is complete--again.

Knitting

  • Test Knit: Nothing since talking to the designer. I hold out hope that she'll sort out the issue, and maybe start using a decent program for designing.

  • Spring Socks: Second one am still motoring towards the heel. I think I knit all of eight rounds on this.

  • SSK Socks: Frogged. not yet re-cast on.

  • Garter Shawl: Used up almost all of the main color doing the main portion of the shawl, and am now knitting on the edging. What leftovers I have I think will become a headband, as I need a few more and these colors look great on me. I maintain that once it's finished, I can use the bag that project is in to hold the tank. And that's why it's motoring on as fast as it is. I'm almost-monogamous, and the end-product shows it.

  • I *want* to cast on the LIME GREEN tank, but I'm making myself wait until after I finish the Spring Socks. Or at least get past the heel. Maybe I'll wind on one skein of the yarn...

Cross Stitch

  • No movement. Sigh. I think I need to move this project from my craft area to my office, so it's in front of me and I'll remember I should work on it. I'd love to have it done (and possibly framed) before my wedding anniversary. There. A deadline. Now let's see what happens.

Spinning

  • Selfish sock yarn: no movement. Well, beyond shifting the spinning wheel from here to there. With the warmer weather it's looking more appealing than a massive knit item draped on my lap, so I expect progress this coming week.

This weekend was not for doing anything I should have been doing. It was the end of spring break! I even had off Monday. And did little I should have, and instead lazed and lounged around. It was wonderful.

Quilting

  • Mystery Quilt: Did not finish my homework. And I'm running out of week. Aiiieee!

  • My Quilt: No movement. August 2 block will happen after my homework for the Mystery quilt is complete.

Knitting

  • Test Knit: Nothing since talking to the designer. I hold out hope that she'll sort out the issue, and maybe start using a decent program for designing.

  • Spring Socks: Second one am still motoring towards the heel.

  • SSK Socks: Frogged. not yet re-cast on.

  • Golightly: picked up yarn I needed, and finished them. Giggled the whole way.

  • Hanging Mitered Towel: Couldn't stop with the cotton, and it makes such a cute set with the Golightly...this just needs a button and it's done.

  • Instead of starting the tank, I started a garter-stitch shawl that I wound up before I went on vacation. It's, um, about 1/3 or so done. Not quite halfway. And I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Once it's finished, I can use the bag that project is in to hold the tank. See? A reason for my left turn of about 800 yards of yarn.

  • I *want* to cast on the LIME GREEN tank, but I'm making myself wait until after I finish the Spring Socks. Or at least get past the heel. Maybe I'll wind on one skein of the yarn...

Cross Stitch

  • No movement. Sigh.

Spinning

  • Selfish sock yarn is progressing to completed singles. I'm worried that I might be rushing it some, and the quality is shifting because of that.

  • 3#Fiber: I'm still playing with the singles on the spindle. On Monday I sat down and broke the pounds into 4 ounce groupings, and made braids so the fiber is more manageable. Once I get done with the spindle stuff I'll ply that (I'm thinking a chain ply onto the wheel) and then start sampling for the weight I want for a sweater. I think the spindling is hurting my sock spinning--I'm spinning the new fiber a little thicker on purpose, and that "thicker" thought is leaking into the sock fiber. I'll have to watch that. But I can't wait to knit up what I've got on the spindle now, and see how it behaves when washed and blocked. Yay!
