...because I can't get enough (guess who doesn't wanna work today?).

These are from [livejournal.com profile] webqatch :

translating: It's what I say I do. Waaaay back when I was an underclassman, my mass communication class professor made an important point that hit home for me: What you say and what the other person understands are two very different things (for a variety of reasons), and it is the responsibility of the speaker to be as clear as possible, and to clarify as needed. If the listener doesn't understand, it's not their fault. This has stuck with me ever since. As someone in a communication job (even when I was a teacher), I try to be as clear as possible when it's really important. (I also lose nouns while speaking-it's funny, but frustrating as all get-out.) Now, as a technical writer, I call myself a translator more often than not. I'm reading specs, talking to software engineers, and taking the information they give me and producing manuals for the healthcare sector. I translate geek to medical.

This is the bit where I would ususally slide over into the bit about being a facilitator. I end up in that role because I can see when two parties are having trouble communicating, and I'll try to help translate between them. By doing so, I end up owning projects or responsibilities that I didn't ask for. Team Wench. We'll just leave it at that. *grin*

gaming: I already talked about being a gamer. Gaming itself is fun. It could be D&D or Trivial Persuit or Twister--I like playing games. Shoot, I love badminton, and haven't played it in forever. I think I'll have to remedy that soon.

gardening: You have two options here: Go see where I was given the word "gardener" or look through my tags about the garden. I recommend the link. Gardening is something that I've enjoyed for a long, long time. (Which reminds me--gotta pick the peas and pull the lettuce out.)

family: A new word! Family means a lot to me--the blood family I grew up with tells me a lot about myself, some about why I'm the way I am, and can get me a good deal on an emergency car fix. The Friends I have are another family, and I know I can rely on them to cheer me up, to be there when I need someone to listen, or to just get me out of the house. There are times when I'd like to throttle each and every person in my family--blood and friends alike, but I love them all and am quick to forgive whatever it was that set me off in the first place. Whenever I hear of one of them hurting, I immediately want to get the car keys and go do something to help the pain go away. Sometimes I can do that, sometimes I can't. But I want to see my family--all of you--happy.

garb: I've got to make more. First time in years that I'll have to seriously look at--and revamp-the gard wardrobe. Two years before my son was born, I realized I could go the entire MDRF season--all 8 weeks--and attend every single day, and never repeat an outfit. And you know what? I did, just because I could. But I can't these days. So I need to go back through all of my garb, weed things out before the Team Wench Yard Sale, and see what's left. My first garb ever will be staying here though--a wool Irish Dress (unboned) and skirt. I love that dress, with it's newbie mistakes and modern shaping, it's still some of the best fabric I've ever found for such a thing, and I've not found it's like since.

This year, I'll (hopefully) be making a few skirts, a chemise, and two pairs of pants for a Boy. I'm holding off the pants for as long as possible--and we'll see if the shirts are still okay. If not, I'll buy more. There's some things I won't make. Clothing for my husband is one--he tells me he wants one thing, and I make it, and what he really wanted was something else.

And while the sewing machine is out, I'll probably piece that new quilt for my Boy that I want to make. He is almost as long as his original tummy-time quilt, and so we need a new one for his bed.
