A Baktus (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baktus-scarf) is a simple pattern for a scarf (mine's got enough depth in the center to be called a shawl). You weigh your yarn, knit with an increase on one side until you have knit half of the yarn (by weight), then decrease back down to four stitches, and cast off.
Mine is a striped version with two skeins of yarn, and because half of that yarn is handspun and handspun isn't known for being consistent in size (and thus weight), I'm hoping I spun it even enough that I've got enough to go to the end. If not, the ends will both be bright blue.
