imjustlori: (thin)
Because it's not just knitting anymore. :-)

Quilting:
  • Picked up next homework. was missing a piece of the fabric, went back for it, and have completed the majority of the cutting and sewing. There's applique and embroidery (again), so I have felt like I can relax--that's good for evenings in the hotel, at least. But I might still try to complete it over the weekend (or at least get it going) so I'm not stressing about it the day after I get back from Chicago, and pick up the NEXT month's homework.
  • Also finished the dresden plate blocks. That's July done. August's are pieced triangles, with flying geese--the last pieced triangles blocks I made for this quilt came out a wee bit short, so I'll be taking my time on the next ones, and keeping that scant quarter inch seam truly scant. I've started cutting out the pieces, at least.
Knitting:
  • Almost done sewing the pieces of the clutch purse together--the purse is together, and I'm closing the strap's seam. Then I finish the embellishment, toss the things in the washer to felt, add a little hardware (off pattern! Alert! She's going off pattern!), and I'll have a purse I don't need. Hm.
  • Also over the weekend, I seem to have knit a cowl. I don't NEED a cowl, but the yarn and pattern were here, so I made one. Let's call it a step ahead for Christmas next year.
  • Once that cowl was off the needles, I started another one. Same pattern, same needles, different yarn. Again, I really am not sure why. But it's almost done...
  • In the meantime, the sweater's sleeve is moving, slowly. I'm where I now have to count rows, and need quiet time to focus on it. Could be why I suddenly have a cowl and a half I hadn't planned.
  • I'm also starting to itch to cast on another pair of socks. I've got TWO on the needles now--one plain stockinette, one super-complicated (not really) colorwork. I keep telling myself I have to finish one of these pairs first. So instead I think I'll get the second gnome mitten back into rotation--more colorwork, but in short bursts that are entertaining and keep my interest to the point that the first mitten was done in a flash. Or week. Anyway, they're an unfinished project, and I should get back to it.
Cross Stitch:
Yes, I do this too. I've had two kits waiting for my attention for a while, and when I was watching the football game this past weekend I wanted something quieter than the quilting that wasn't knitting to do, and there was the Yellowstone kit. So I broke that out and got it started. I've not touched it since the game, but I'll keep it in rotation until it's finished--once done, I'll get that one framed and we'll add it to the bedroom, with the picture that inspired the quilt that will get completed this year. Eventually, that room will be fully turned over to the wild-yet-cozy outdoors look.

Maybe next update I'll add photos of some of these things. I know y'all would love to see. Well, some of you. *grin*
