A Knitting Update.
Jan. 11th, 2009 08:41 amI've all but finished the scarf for
ptpgrad--its ends need weaving in. That will take me all of a minute or two today to take care of. I love this scarf--love love love it. I think she will too.
So, last night while watching The Incredibles with my son again, I cast on the back of his sweater. And then in the hours after he went to bed when I watched the last bit of Mystery, then Brit Wit, then the first two songs of the Great Big Sea's concert, knit up about two and a half inches of it. It's going to be fairly mindless for another seven and a half inches, so I'm content with it.
I've decided, finally, to frog these GameSocks entirely and get better yarn for my man's socks. I've learned a lot about kntting and sockmaking since starting that first one, and no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the gauge to match on the second one. Whatever I do, I'll be making notes. I'll also look over the sock yarn stash with him (hopefully today) and see if he likes anthing there. If not, I've got a few options flagged at The Loopy Ewe that I'll wave under his nose as well.
I'm in The Loopy Ewe's Clapotis KAL (knitalong) and have really just been waiting for people to catch up with where I am in mine before getting active on that project again. In truth I've been trying to finish that scarf first, so I can focus on the Clap next and get it done. It's a project for me, so normally it would get low priority in knitting. However, It's been a WIP (work in progress) for long enough, and it's time to finish it.
I also need to finish the golf club covers as well--they're fairly close to doneness, but the next bit again requires concentration (the last duplicate stitch of the "G"). So it will be my post-Boy bedtime work for a little while. Last time, when I was (mostly) focused on it, it took a few hours to gett hrough that bit. I think I can get that bit done this week. I'd like to have that project fully completed by the end of the month.
You will notice that my personally set deadlines like the one above will be more spread out than last year, giving me more time to complete a project. That's because I'm done with disappointing myself, and have one New Year's Resolution, and only one. "Finish what you start." Meaning, focus on a task until it is finished, then turn your focus to the next. More on the resolution in my overall life will be in another post, but as it applies to knitting, it means that when I decide it's time to finish a project, all you'll really hear about is that project. And I'll get it done. *grin*
I also have two pairs of socks to complete--and I want to get one pair done before I cast on my husband's new socks, so I can try to keep the project count under control this year. We'll see how I do.
